On the side of animals since 1952
We are a British based charity which raises funds worldwide for animal welfare organisations in Italy.
Last year alone, we were able to provide guidance and financial support to over 30 projects helping them to rescue, lovingly look after and find a new home for thousands of animals across Italy.
Our name tells much more than the 5 letters of which it’s formed.
A for our Aims and Ambition
Perhaps it is not widely known that in a country at the very heart of Europe, like Italy, it is estimated that over 100,000 dogs are taken in by municipal pounds each year and 80,000 stray cats are spay and neutered by local authorities (public shelters only as per Italian Government figures as of 31/12/2021). Our aim is to reduce stray populations and improve conditions for domestic and wild animals in Italy. We are aware that this is an ambitious goal but we will continue to work with all those involved in pursuit of these aims.
I for Integrity
Our present and future are inscribed in our long history, initiated by Leonard Hawksley at the turn of the 20th century. We are proud of such a heritage and since 1952 AISPA has embraced the Hawksley legacy, taking it forward for over six decades with dedication and respect for the same values with which it originated. We face our future remaining true to ourselves and to the principles that inspired the foundation of the Society.
S for Support
AISPA believes in actively supporting our Projects. We work in close partnership, providing not simply financial aid but offering guidance whenever it is needed.
P for Passion
AISPA’s team, project partners, advisors, representatives and supporters all have one thing in common: an outstanding passion and love for animals which inspires our activities and outreach work. Through such passion and determination have we been able to overcome the many obstacles faced over the years. Today we can look at our achievements with pride and gratitude to all those who have supported us.
A for Accountability
Mutual respect and trust are the dominant principles of our operation. We believe there can be no trust without transparency and accountability. This is why at AISPA we have always operated in full respect of such values, for the benefit of both our supporters and those we support.
